Safety begins with trust
People communicate more openly when they feel safe. A calm explanation or respectful tone can reveal information that might otherwise remain hidden.
Kindness and competence belong together
Compassion cannot replace safe practice, but competence without compassion is incomplete. Excellent care joins skill and humanity.
Ordinary behaviour matters
Knocking, introducing yourself, explaining, offering choice and returning when promised may define the experience of care.
Kindness can be firm
A compassionate leader can still address unsafe practice, set boundaries and demand improvement without humiliation.
