Where it began
My professional journey began in a dental laboratory, where dexterity was tested, developed and refined. Every restoration demanded patience, concentration and respect for detail. A small inaccuracy could affect comfort, function and confidence, so there was no room for carelessness.
The person behind the work
Each case represented a person who wanted to eat comfortably, speak confidently or smile without feeling self-conscious. Even when I never met them, their life remained at the centre of the task. That taught me that craftsmanship can be compassion and precision can be respect.
Leadership before the title
Long before I held leadership responsibilities, I was learning to prepare, check assumptions, correct errors and take responsibility for outcomes. Leadership, like laboratory work, is often built privately before it is tested publicly.
Different tools, the same purpose
Today I use different tools: care, leadership, writing, mentoring and technology. Yet the purpose remains familiar—to leave people better than I found them. I began by helping restore smiles; now I also seek to restore dignity, confidence, opportunity and hope.
